Deborah Gardner Evans
In my previous life, I was a journalist and was published in The Wall Street Journal, the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, local newspapers and on news websites. Working as a reporter taught me to become an expert on an article’s subject in a short period of time.
In 2004, I moved to marketing and communications at the Canadian Cancer Society where I spent nearly five years as the lead writer and project manager of information and educational brochures, annual reports, online and print newsletters and advertorials. Using my expertise from my past life experience, I perfected the ability to cut out the jargon and smooth out the details of complicated health-related or research information to create easy-to-read documents.
In 2009, I ventured out on my own as a freelance writer and editor. When I’m not busy writing, you’ll likely find me hanging out at the local playground with my two young kids or training for my next race.
