An accomplished writer and editor, I specialize in marketing and corporate communication material. I spent the first several years of my career working in the media – where I was published in The Wall Street Journal, the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail and on news websites. As a journalist, I often needed to become an expert on an article’s subject in a short period of time.
In 2004, I moved to marketing and communications at the Canadian Cancer Society where I spent nearly five years as the lead writer and project manager of information and educational brochures, annual reports, online and print newsletters and advertorials. Using my expertise as a former journalist, I perfected the ability to cut out the jargon and smooth out the details of complicated health-related or research information to create easy-to-read documents that everyone could understand.
In 2009, I ventured out on my own as a freelance writer and editor, creating, editing and proofreading reports, newsletters, brochures and website copy for small to mid-size businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
When I’m not busy writing, you’ll likely find me hanging out at the local playground with my two young kids or training for my next race.
